Jen, licensed massage therapist, working with a client

I Became a Massage Therapist Because Bodies Matter

I didn't come to massage therapy through a linear path. For years I worked in healthcare — and what I kept noticing was how many people were managing symptoms without ever addressing the underlying tension in their bodies. Stress held in the shoulders. Grief sitting in the chest. A neck that's been braced for impact for so long it forgot how to let go.

When I completed my massage therapy training and licensure, something clicked. This was hands-on, person-to-person, genuinely useful work. Not another appointment where someone talks at you for fifteen minutes — but an hour of actual attention to what your body is carrying.

I opened Back to Zen with Jen in Clermont, FL because I wanted to build a practice that felt nothing like a chain spa. No up-selling. No assembly-line appointments. Just thoughtful, personalized massage therapy from someone who takes this work seriously — and takes you seriously too.

When I'm not in the treatment room, you'll usually find me outside — hiking, gardening, or sitting somewhere quiet with a cup of tea. I believe the body needs stillness as much as it needs movement. I try to practice what I preach.

My Approach to Massage Therapy

Every session starts with listening. I want to know what's going on before my hands do anything. What hurts. What doesn't. What you're hoping to walk out feeling like. That conversation shapes everything that comes after.

Every Session Is Different

I don't run the same routine on every client. What you need on a Tuesday after a rough week looks different than what you need after a month of travel. I adjust accordingly.

You're Always in Control

Pressure, pace, focus areas — you guide all of it. I check in during sessions and I mean it when I ask. Nothing happens without your comfort and consent.

Therapeutic and Relaxing

These aren't opposites. The best sessions do both — address real issues while also giving your body genuine rest. That's the goal every time.

No Judgment, Ever

Bodies are bodies. I've worked with every shape, size, and situation. My job is to help you feel better — not to assess or comment on anything else.

What to Expect on Your First Visit

Not knowing what to expect is the most common reason people put off booking. Here's exactly how it goes.

We Talk First

Before you get on the table, we'll spend a few minutes talking through what's going on — areas of tension, any injuries or health considerations, and what you're hoping to get out of the session. Nothing formal, just a conversation.

You're in Charge of Draping

You'll undress to whatever level feels comfortable to you. You're fully draped with a sheet throughout the session — only the area being worked on is ever uncovered. I step out and knock before entering.

We Check In As We Go

I'll ask about pressure at the start and again as we move through the session. If anything feels off — too much, too little, wrong area — speak up at any time. There's no such thing as a rude interruption in my room.

Take Your Time Afterward

Don't rush off the table. I'll give you space to come back slowly, drink some water, and let your body settle. We can also talk about what I noticed and whether there's anything to watch for at home.

Book Your First Session

New clients always welcome. Not sure what to book? Reach out and I'll help you figure it out.
